与此同时，面向少年儿童家长的“今日家长”杂志，亦评出了全国40 所最佳公立学校。今日家长的评比项目也是 10 个，每个项目评出 4 所优胜学校。在“迎接挑战”项目中，位于多伦多 Gateway 55 号的 Gateway Public School 榜上有名。这所学校共有近 1015 名学生，面临的挑战是，学校规模大，有 17个入口，而且地处人口密集的市中心地区。学校教职员工想尽办法维护及保障学校建筑的安全，并规定从早上 8 时至傍晚 4 时，所有学生必须从一个主门出入，托儿所员工与教师，则通过刷卡系统出入学校。 (newstarnet.com)
