I want to talk about my Beijing trip in 2010
    i wanna talk about my recent trip to Beijing. I’m sure a lot of American people have a trip to Beijing and I’m going to share with you some of my beijing travel experiences.
   The weather in April in Beijing was very cold and I was lucky that during those 5 days, it’s been quite sunny. Instead of staying in a hotel, we booked a hotel online on chinatraveldepot.com in advance, trying to experience the local culture.
   Our first meal was dinner at dongzhi Restaurant. It is a Sichuan restaurant at 80 Dengshikou street, across from the Holiday Inn. all of the spicy dishes have to be eaten immediately as they are served, if they are allowed to cool they lose flavor very quickly. Other dishes were very good egg drop soup with tomatoes, garlicky eggplant and peppers, Kung Pau chicken. Also this place has a very good beer selection.During the course of dinner, there were live performances on stage. Among those (the) most impressive one I found was the “Bian Lian” meaning “face changing”. The performer was wearing brightly coloured costume just like what you would see in the Chinese opera. He was also wearing layers of vividly coloured masks. And as he moved to dramatic music, he waved his arm and changed his mask just in a split second. He kept changing his masks one by one until finally showed his own face! So that was an awesome experience of my beijing trip.
    The other day i went to the Beijing Great Wall April 18, 2010. It was about a 2 hour drive outside of Beijing. A group pictures were taken, and then we were left on our own to climb however much of the Wall as we wished. We started the trek and took a lot of pictures, which were cherished by me until now. Fortunately, my husband and I put our own comfortable shoes our chinese travel guide told us beforehand. It is quite important to ensure us having a long trek in the Beijing Great Wall. Thus, we took many many beautiful pictures there. However, it was crowded on the Beijing Great Wall at that day. We climbed the Badaling Great Wall. So my advice would be that if you haven’t been to the Great Wall before, make sure you wear loosely fitted clothes and comfortable shoes with good grip, otherwise it’s going to be difficult for you to walk a bit.
   the seconed station of my beijing trip is the Summer Palace or Yihe Yuan , which means “Gardens of Nurtured Harmony.” Not to be confused with the original Summer Palace, destroyed in the Second Opium War in 1860, the current Summer Palace started out as an expansive garden complex and later became the Summer Palace for the Empress Dowager Cixi. It is an expansive 2.9 square kilometers, three quarters of which is water. The main palace overlooks a large lake filled with paddle boats for rent and large dragon boats ferrying tourists from place to place. We all rented a paddle boat to explore the vast area. We went around an island in the middle of the lake (attached to land by a formidable stone bridge) along the inlets and interspersed pagodas, we discovered another bridge, excessively arched in a distinctly oriental style. We also saw the Marble Boat, an ornate 36 meter wooden boat (made to resemble marble) on which the emperor could enjoy the finest luxuries.
     My beijing tour guide   lily, was very nice and spoke English well, I've been in tours in many countries and I've never had a tour guide who was as enthusistic and fun as carol. She always seemed just as excited as we were when visiting the sites and didn't talk 'to you' about places but rather 'with you', which certainly allow me to get a lot out of it. She was always flexible and gave us choice about what to do and how long to stay and she gave some excellent recommendations about some sites that weren't as well publicised. She ALWAYS got us the best deal at either the markets or restaurants and was very assertive in making sure that we were seated and served first! she told me she also worked for a beijing travel website: depot.comwww.chinatravel
     This is my beijing travel experience that I would like to share with you if you are planning to arrange a private tour in Beijing China. Make sure you choose a good beijing travel website, check their reviews and reconfirm your itinerary when you first meet with your tour guide. Good Luck!
